Medicare Supplements for people who want predictable costs and a wide choice of doctors.

A Medicare Supplement, also called Medigap, works with Original Medicare. Medicare pays its share of covered services, and the supplement helps pay some of what is left, such as deductibles and coinsurance. You can see any doctor or hospital in the country that accepts Medicare. A supplement does not include prescription drugs, so most people pair it with a separate Part D plan.

Why people in Oklahoma choose a supplement

Supplements appeal to people who split time between Norman Regional, an Oklahoma City specialist, and family out of state. Because the coverage follows Original Medicare, you are not limited to a local network.

Plans are standardized. A Plan G from one carrier has the same core benefits as a Plan G from another. The difference is the premium, the company’s rate history, and how they handle service. That is the comparison we run.

Timing matters

The best time to buy a supplement is during your Medigap open enrollment, a six-month window that starts the month you are 65 or older and enrolled in Part B. During that window, carriers cannot turn you down or charge more because of health conditions.

After that window, you may have to answer health questions. If you are already outside it, we still look at what is available and we tell you honestly when a supplement is unlikely to be approved.

Supplement or Advantage

A supplement usually has a higher monthly premium and fewer surprises when you use care. A Medicare Advantage plan often has a lower premium and a network, with copays as you go. Neither one is the default right answer. It depends on your doctors, your travel, your prescriptions, and what you want to pay each month versus at the visit.

If you already have a supplement that still fits, we will not talk you out of it to put you on an Advantage plan.

What we compare

  • Which standardized plan letter matches how you use care?
  • What is the premium now, and how has this carrier raised rates?
  • Are you inside your Medigap open enrollment window?
  • Which Part D plan belongs beside the supplement?
  • Do you see doctors in more than one city, or travel outside Oklahoma?

Common questions

Does a Medicare Supplement include drug coverage?

No. You will usually want a separate Medicare Part D prescription drug plan. We compare those at the same time so the two pieces work together.

Are all Plan G policies the same?

The medical benefits of a given letter are standardized. Premiums, household discounts, and rate stability are not. We compare those carrier differences for your age and ZIP code.

Can I switch supplements later?

You can apply later, and in Oklahoma you may have to pass health questions. We will tell you before you drop a plan whether a new one is likely to accept you.

We do not offer every plan available in your area. For the full list of options, contact Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE, or the Oklahoma Medicare Assistance Program at 1-800-763-2828. Calling us connects you with a licensed insurance agent.
